Style, Meet Sound: Roxy and JBL Headphones
Posted on Jun 10, 2009 @ 06:13PM - Add a comment

Beach designer Roxy partnered with sound pioneer JBL to create a co-branded line of audio gear specifically sized for women. While style is important let’s face it, if they don’t sound good, no one is going to wear them but we’re happy to report that the brightly colored “D.J. style” headphones and colorful ear buds deliver superior audio sound.
The on ear headphones ($69.95) are made of cups that have been purposely designed as smaller than average ear cups, so they’re comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time and the ear buds won’t fall out of your ears.
Unlike the crappy default Apple ear buds, the mic on the In-Earphones ($39.95) is purposely bigger and easy to see , not only as a style choice but also so you’ll hear conversations better. Roxy fans will love the cases, which come in Roxy’s signature styled patterns.
iPhone 3G S: The "S" Stands for Speed
Posted on Jun 08, 2009 @ 03:57PM - Add a comment

As expected, Apple today introduced the new iPhone 3G S, featuring improved speed and performance—reportedly up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G (big YAY!) —longer battery life, a high-quality 3 megapixel autofocus camera, easy to use video recording and hands free voice control.
What we can look forward to is a new OS (operating system) OS 3.0, with over 100 new features such as Cut, Copy and Paste, MMS, Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard and a new Find My iPhone feature that works together with MobileMe to help you locate a lost iPhone.)
If you’re lucky enough to be a new customer or at the end of your contract, contract pricing is set at $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32GB when it goes on sale June 18th Stateside. The 8GB 3G will remain on sale for $99, effective immediately. You'll have to pay a bit more if you're mid-contract, though -- $299 for the 3G and $399/$499 for the 3G S.
Did we mention the “S’ stands for speed. You can find us on line at the Apple store July 18th.
WE DIDN’T FLIP OVER THE DUAL-FLIP ALIAS

Verizon’s Samsung Alias 2 has the same popular dual–hinge design of the original Alias, but the Alias 2 adds a “Magic Key” keypad using e–ink technology. In phone mode, you see a standard phone keypad. In texting mode, however, the keys change into a full, four–row QWERTY keypad. By far our favorite feature, the new E ink keyboard solves the major confusing letter/number problem with the first Alias, as well as other similar phones.
The Alias 2 also has a greatly improved screen , a 2.6" QVGA screen for crisper, clearer viewing, but unfortunately you have to open the screen for it to illuminate.
TEXT AND LEARN: KID’S PDA
Posted on Jun 03, 2009 @ 02:19PM - Add a comment

Scary statistics: One in 6 parents have found their PDA – whether it’s a Trio, Palm, Blackberry, iPhone – in the trash or even worse, the toilet! Anyone with a toddler knows that they’re fascinated with our PDA’s, probably because we’re on it so much, and a cheap imitation won’t fool them.
So the clever folks at Leapfrog created a “Text and Learn” PDA that actually works! Well, they can’t text YOU or update their FaceBook page but the green puppy, Scout who comes in the package can text them back. And you can program Scout to call them by name (my cute press unit came already calling me “Evan” which is just too adorable, especially when singing lullabies.)
Wash That Keyboard!

If you think about it for one sec, imagine the festering germs your keyboard is hoarding. Scary, right? So Kensington came up with the Washable USB/PS2 Keyboard with Antimicrobial Protection that can be run under your tap and washed to remove germs and contamination. Plus the built-in microbial finish provides continuous microbe-fighting action.
Standard size with 104-key layout, it features soft-touch keys with a pleasing responsive touch. Our only quibble is that the chord could be a little longer.
Go Street With Sports Headband

We usually embrace any technology that does away with wires, so you would think we’d go crazy over this music headband for i360 but we really don’t like the street thug look. (their iPod beanie is really cute though.)
i360 uses a patented internal wiring system with dual detachable speakers intergrated into custom headwear (for iPod nano or second gen Shuffle) for this headband and also the beanie and hats, which are due out soon. Handwashable only so the headband isn’t a good candidate for the gym either.

Handy Device Routes Cell Phone Calls Through Home Phone System.
Your cell phone is ringing and you are making a mad dash for it, hurdling the dog, cornering past furniture and maybe even charging down steps as you follow the sound trying to remember where you left it. And, of course, you’re too late! The call went to voice mail.
Sure it’s a great way to get in shape but it’s also dangerous – for you and the dog! That’s why the folks at Xtreme Tech came up with XLink BT. This handy little device simultaneously integrates up to three cell phones through your home phone system wirelessly.
Radius: Atomic Bass Earphones for iPhone 3G

If you’re looking for a quality set of earphones for your iPhone, more expensive is not necessarily better.
The proof is in the form of Radius Atomic Bass Earphones ($49.99) for iPhone (works with older models and 3G). Our experience left us with the opinion that the Radius belongs in the company of other earphones that are much more expensive. And if you’re wondering why not just use the set that comes with the phone, once you plug these into your ears you won’t ask that question anymore.

"Dress Up Your iPod"

When we saw this new iPod iClear sketch from Griffin, we just had to have it. Your iPod shows through a ghosted pattern (choose between “8-Bit” or “Baroque” patterns) for a subtle, very posh look.
The durable polycarbonate iClear Sketch also provides total protection from bumps, bruises and scratches, while still sllowing total access to screen, ports, and controls.
“Cushy Gadget”

Who doesn't love a simple gadget that makes your life easier ? One of those "why didn't I think of that?" gizmos.
Belkin has done that with the "CushTop" a simple little device that makes it comfortable to use your laptop on your bed, couch or floor. We got so tired of gettting a crink in our neck from typing articles in bed.
