Fresh from her ejection from American Idol, Memphis soul singer Alexis Grace said she never thought she would be eliminated so soon.
"I kind of had a feeling I was in the bottom three," Grace said. "I never imagined myself going home that early. I wanted to make it farther, at least."
Grace said her family was more upset than she was over the elimination: "They are my biggest fans and biggest supporters, and they really wanted me to go far and believed that I could."
Jolene Couldn't Save Alexis Grace

Alexis Grace, the 21-year-old single mother from Memphis, Tenn., was eliminated from American Idol Wednesday after her performance of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' on Tuesday's country-themed episode failed to impress viewers (who gave her the least votes) and judges alike.
Grace made her bid for redemption via a second performance, but it wasn't enough to persuade the judges to act on a new rule that allows them to reverse eliminations at their discretion.
"It was good, but it wasn't good enough," judge Simon Cowell told the pixie-like Grace. "Sorry. It's the end of the line I'm afraid."
